Low Carb, Gluten Free Beer
July 5, 2012 in Beer, Drinking, review

Green’s Mission Gluten Free Belgian Ale is only rated 2.7 out of 5 on Rate Beer but but the interesting numbers are 0, 3, and 6. 0 as in Gluten Free, 3 carbs, and 6% ABV.
Gluten Free Beer – Best and The Worst
April 6, 2012 in Beer, Drinking, review
Paste Magazine presents their opinions on the 14 Best and Worst Gluten Free Beers, by and large I agree with this lit with a few glaring exceptions. Green’s offerings defiantly belong in the Best category, Red Bridge not so much. I also plan on proving the very wrong about the difficulty of brewing a hoppy gluten free offering.

The Beer and Whiskey Brothers report that from New York to South Carolina at Sunoco Stations while you fill your car with premium gas you can fill your growlers with premium beer, courtesy of the Craft Beer Exchange.
$1500 Bottle of Beer
April 1, 2012 in Beer, Drinking, review
RateBeer gives Midnight Sun’s M a 100 overall and for it’s style (Belgian Barley Wine) – Ebay Buyer’s gave it a great rating of their own with the auction closing at $1500 for a single bottle of this rare Alaskan Beer. This could be a new record, maybe I should start an auction only small batch brewery.
A Hate-On for Fancy Beer
March 23, 2012 in Beer, Drinking, FAIL, Just For Fun, review
Over at AskMen Patrick Smith defends close populist elitism - or as he calls it “Why it is okay to hate fancy beer” – There are two group, the pretentious cock monkeys who won’t touch a beer that isn’t hand crafted by vegan monks using genetically engineered super hops, and the toothless hillbillies that won’t drink beer that doesn’t have a NASCAR team co-sponsored by Real Tree or Mossy Oak. I hate them both, drink a beer, if you like it drink more, if you don’t, try something else.
This is a tallboy of PBR, it was $1.57, it sits in front of the sign I made for my homebrew which is often in various European ale style that I age for months to years… I like them both.
Simple, Classy, 1 Handed Bottle Opener
March 18, 2012 in Drinking, review
\This gorgeous one handed bottle opener is inspired by a 1930′s Theodore Law bottle opener. It is simple, subtle, and smart in highly polished stainless steel with cap holding magnet recessed into the frame. It can be yours for $25 at Rush3Studios.
I bet you could print, cast, or CNC your own. If you do, let me know, I would like one in brushed steel, or with a Tenifer Treatment.
Freaktoberfest for Febtoberfest
February 13, 2012 in Beer, Drinking, review
The bottle art was a la carnival and the text from the back of the bottle was excellent.
Arise & take possession of this bewitching offering of the season. Crafted to lure your spirit’s deepest rapture. Conjured to exercise the grim horrors of the armies of soulless drafts everywhere. ABV 6.66%
Occasionally the beer and wine store near our places has good beers on sale when the season’s styles change. About a week ago Garland and I picked up a 4 pack of Coney Island Freaktoberfest by Shmaltz Brewing Company .

It is a novelty beer, to be sure, but still pretty tasty. While meant as a halloween beer with 6 malts (Canadian 2 Row, Munich, Rye, Wheat, Dark Crystal and Caramunich 40), 6 varieties of hops (Warrior, Centennial, Crystal, Fuggle, Northern Brewer and Willamette) and an ABV of 6.66% it makes a good choice for Valentines Day as well because of it’s blood red hue.
If looking for a special touch for your date night and perhaps to save a few bucks, try to hunt down a bottle of this hoppy lager. If you can’t find it this year, plan a trip to Coney Island for the Freaktoberfest Festival and enjoy it with a big helping live music, side show freaks, and you favorite fiends.
